Justin McCarthy

Justin James McCarthy, age 12, passed away Monday, July 26, 2021 due to injuries sustained in a car accident.

Justin was born October 5, 2008 in Des Moines, Iowa to Arthur and Jennifer (Townsend) McCarthy. He was going into 7th grade at Callahan Middle School in Des Moines. Justin would give the shirt off his back to anyone. He loved to help other kids, and would befriend anyone in need. He was a buddy to everyone and he enjoyed helping his teachers. He loved all of his friends.

Justin loved electronics – maybe sometimes too much! – and was a connoisseur of junk food, just like any pre-teen. He was a momma’s boy. He loved his family, and loved to help his dad with his business. His favorite was the Merry Go Round and was even able to operate it himself.

He is survived by his dad, Arthur; his mom, Jennifer; sister, Aaliyah English; brother, Dominic McCarthy; grandparents, Catherine McCarthy, Karen Coe, and Delbert Fraizer; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

Justin was preceded in death by his grandpa, Patrick McCarthy.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be Monday, August 9, 2021 at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Pkwy, West Des Moines at 11:00 a.m. The service will be livestreamed through Lutheran Church of Hope’s website and can be accessed here: Funeral Service for Justin McCarthy the day of the service. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
