Nathan Jonas Jordison (Joey)
July 26, 2021
Nathan Jonas Jordison (Joey) passed away peacefully in his sleep on
July 26, 2021 at the age of 46.
Joey was born on April 26, 1975 in Des Moines Iowa and grew up in Waukee, Iowa with his father, Steve Jordison, his mother, Jackie and two younger sisters, Katie (Shaun) and Annie (Chris).
Joey's love for music was evident at an early age and he was given his first drum set when he was eight years old. Joey performed in many bands as a teen-ager and in 1995 co-founded the band that would later become known as "Slipknot". Over the years Joey spearheaded even more bands, worked as a producer and performed session work as both a drummer and guitarist. His uncompromised talents would later lead to multiple platinum records and a Grammy Award with "Slipknot" in 2005.
Joey's accomplishments as a musician are undeniable, but his family and friends remember him best for his giving heart and his sharp, satirical sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh, but got the biggest "kick" out of laughing at himself.
Joey fought several health issues for many years and truly sought God's help during his struggles. In the end, it was He who decided Joey had finally struggled long enough and peacefully brought him home.
Joey is survived by his parents, sisters, brother, Lukas Jordison, three nephews (Jonas, Jude, Levin) and a niece (Annella), a grandmother (Kay Williams) and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family and friends will celebrate Joey's precious life privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation in Joey's name be made to Music Minds Matter or Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

Joey Jordison
"Words cannot define the pain I feel inside
A beast yet so kind
Has left a whole world behind
His smile was a light
His heart so full
He loved his fur babies his family and never forget his Manda bear
Mokie by his side touring the country with no fear
Determination and drive were how you thrived
Nothing could stop you
Not even pain severe
Always working not knowing how to slow down
Don't forget the day he wore the crown
Feel the thunder within and never wonder why
For what you are hearing is the angel drummer flying high"
To Amanda and the Jordison family, I will continue to pray for peace and comfort during your sadness and I pray God will ease your suffering and pain.

Joey is the reason my son graduated high school. The band was my sons favorite so when I met Joey at a club in des moines he was fast to offer up memorabilia to entice my son. It worked! He graduated and is now married with a beautiful daughter! I can not express enough thanks for what you did for a complete strangers son. Rest easy

From the time I became attached to the 9, I knew you were the glue and were the most extraordinary artist/percussionist I would ever be able to have the chance to follow or hear. Im no drummer but you in your entirety gave me the push to try for a couple of years. So from this superfan to one of his heroes, we all love you #1. Your spirit and presence will never leave this earth.
