Kevin William Streu
July 10, 2021
Kevin William Streu, 37, died July 10, 2021. Kevin was born on December 26, 1983 in Schaumburg, IL to Eileen (Caluwaert) and William Streu. He graduated from Conant High School in Hoffman Estates in 2002 and attended Eastern Illinois University, majoring in Hospitality Management, attaining his Bachelor’s degree in 2006. While attending EIU, Kevin belonged to Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Many of Kevin’s friends from his high school and college days were always an important part of his life.
Kevin worked in the hospitality industry for various hotels in Illinois, Florida, Indiana, and Minnesota. He most recently changed his career path to the insurance industry. His work ethic was one of his strongest attributes.
Kevin was united in marriage on May 28, 2011 in Des Moines to Allison Banning. They were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Alivia, who immediately became the center of their lives. Kevin was a proud father and was driven to be the best dad he could be for Alivia. He always expressed how fortunate he was to have her in his life.
Kevin loved playing sports from a young age, especially baseball of which he spent many years in travel ball. As an avid sports fan he always cheered on his beloved Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed cooking, fishing when possible, playing games with his family, and any time spent with Alivia. Kevin was never shy about reminding his opponents “You play to win the game”!
The impact Kevin had on his family, friends, and those he worked with cannot be measured and will not be forgotten. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his daughter Alivia, the love of his life Allison, his parents Bill and Eileen, and his brother Adam. Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Maurice and Ruth Caluwaert and Richard and Elaine Streu; his uncles, Glen Streu and Chet Glogowski.
Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA with visitation on Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 2 to 5 p.m. and the memorial service on Monday, July 19 at 10 a.m. A reception will follow at Colby Park Community Center in Windsor Heights.
Memorials may be directed to the educational fund established for Alivia by Kevin’s good friends at Go Fund Me Educational Fund for Alivia Streu.
