What a great man! He was always one of my favorite teachers. He always cared about the kids and it showed. My favorite was always teasing him about his Cyclones. He knew my brother and I were big KU and KSU fans and he would get us bantering back and forth. We pray for you all who remember him.

Alvin, a class mate of mine at SHHS just told me about Coach Miles. He was one of my first Football Coaches and he really made the sport fun. He even told me back in 7th grade that I was going to play Pro Football if I just kept working hard. I know he was proud of me when I told him that I had played 9 years of Pro Football. Always love his dry humor. He was the BEST!! May he Rest in Heaven!!!

Just learned of Layton's passing. I'm truly saddened to hear of this. I went looking & asking about him since I hadn't heard from him since March. We communicated on a somewhat regular basis on FB. He was one of my teachers when he was at Shawnee Heights. Found him a few years ago on FB & when we reconnected I called him Mr. Miles. He instantly told me to drop the formality & to just call him Layton. Condolences to his family.
