Allen Fife

Allen Ray Fife, 78, passed away on May 11, 2021, at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. He was born in Winterset, Iowa on January 1, 1943, to Eldon Fife and Martha Pauline Allen.

Allen graduated from St. Charles High School in 1961 and proudly served in the Iowa National Guard. He worked as a diesel/body mechanic at Kenworth Mid-Iowa for 34 years. Allen was an avid golfer, dancer and bowler.

Allen is survived by his children, Amy Turner (Jeff Foote), Melissa (Darnell) Haskins, Jenny (Joe) Stom, Tim (Majken) Fife and Eric Fife; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Eldon Fife, Jr., Mark Fife, Penny Brown, Steve Fife, and Dennis Fife; special friend, Annie Viola. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Peggy Nelson, Paula Fife and Patti Sieck.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., on Thursday, May 13, 2021, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines.

I didnt get to spend much time with you, but the times I did were enjoyed. Being in the presence of an Old School man was never lost on me, and it is all I hope to be as I get older. You were a prime example of taking care of business! You showed me nothing but dignity and respect and I appreciated that more than you know. Rest in Heaven and Rest In Peace!

I grew up on the farm by Fifes. I havent seen Allen in years but have good memories of what a great person he was. We rode the bus to school together. Im so sorry to learn of his death. Mary Ann ( Johnson) Crawford.
