Mary M. Anderson

Mary M. Anderson, 84, passed away April 27, 2021 at Unity Point Taylor House.

Mary was born January 2, 1937 in Des Moines to Michael and Marie (Clark) Swope. She worked for Quest/AT&T as a Switchboard Operator and later in Accounting. Mary and her husband James retired to Arkansas, returning to Granger, Iowa in 2008 and then residing with her daughter, Julie in Des Moines in 2018 to be closer to family.

Mary is survived by her children, James (Maria) Anderson, Julie (Joe) McKinney and Mary Michelle Anderson; grandchildren, Kayla (Jon) McKee, Jimmy (Stephanie) Anderson, Kassie (Ryan) Statler, Tiffany (Brian) Edgington, Joey (Britt) McKinney, Hannah (Alex) McKinney, Nichole (Tim) Graham, Brittney (Almir) Owens and Ryan Mahoney; great-grandchildren, Cailyn, Colyn, James, Gavin, Adeline, Raelee, Kinzley, Anthony, Dallas, Charlotte, Chloe, Brecken, Emma, Natalie, Jaxen, and Tristen; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Father Richard Swope; and her husband of 57 years, James

The family will greet friends Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 10 am to 12 pm with the funeral service to follow at 12 pm at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Mary will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery.
