Debra Gray-Hansen, 62, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 30, 2021.

Debra was born October 21, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa to Oren and Emily (Grammer) Gray.

Debra worked for the State of Iowa as a supervisor for 20 years and retired in 1998. After retirement, she enjoyed crafting. She was passionate about her grandkids and loved spending time in her flower garden watching the monarch butterflies.

Debra is survived by her husband, Dave Hansen; son, Eric (Braidy) Gray; grandchildren, Ethan and Emmalia; sister, Karen “Sue” (Gary) Bianchi; step-daughter, Angie Shafer; step-granddaughter, Morgan Shafer; sister-in-law, Kathy Gray; several nieces and nephews; a host of other loving family members and friends; and her doggy, Coco.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, David Gray.

A celebration of life will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Debra.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff and nurses at Unity Point Hospice for their care and guidance of Debra.
