Donald L. Sanders

Donald Lynn Sanders, age 78, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021. We find comfort in knowing he has been reunited with our mom, the love of his life.

Don was born March 7, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa to Albert and Virginia (Brown) Sanders. He was a graduate of East High School and was employed by Titan Tires, formerly Armstrong Tires. Don devoted himself to his family and grandchildren, and lived every moment selflessly giving to others. He was a passionate fisherman and enjoyed spending time trying to fix anything that was broken.

Don is survived by his daughters, Diana (Todd) Norman and Dawn (Shannon) Sinnott; grandchildren, Courtney, Tanner, Ryley, and Nolan; and his sister, Kathy (Rick) Keeney.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Pat; his parents, Albert and Virginia Sanders; brother, Jim; sisters, Nancy and Sue; and his sister-in-law, Jackie.

There will be a celebration of life from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Private family burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
