Roma Jean Dye, 90, passed away March 6, 2021 at Taylor Hospice House.
Roma was born February 26, 1931 in Des Moines, Iowa to Russ and Marie (Malone) Johns. She married Garland Dye in February 1956. Roma took great pride in being a mother and homemaker. After Garland’s death in 1983, she became a secretary at Carlisle High School and for State Senator Bill Fink. She volunteered for numerous organizations including the Greater Des Moines Partnership, Iowa Methodist Hospital, Blank Park Zoo, Blue Ribbon Foundation, and numerous Democratic fundraisers. Roma was an avid Cubs and Iowa State Cyclones fan and enjoyed watching Jeopardy. She also enjoyed her various clubs, reading and had a green thumb.
Roma is survived by her children, Jeana (Craig) Smith and Susie Deskin; and granddaughter, Chelsey Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Garland; sister, Donna Baldwin; and brothers-in-law, Jim Baldwin and Wayland Dye.
A private family graveside service was held at Carlisle Cemetery.
