Amy L Grimes, 79, of West Des Moines, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on January 9, 2021.
Amy was born December 21, 1941 to Roy and Susie Belzer in Ottumwa, Iowa and was raised in Southern Iowa by Roy and Aileen Belzer. In 1960, Amy graduated from Ottumwa High School alongside her high school sweetheart, Jason, whom she married the following summer.
Amy and Jason were married for over 50 years and raised their four children together. They collaborated on many church committees and with the church youth group. Amy was predominantly a stay-at-home mom with some years of working as the church secretary and having an in-home daycare. She enjoyed reading God’s Word and Christian books as well as attending ladies’ Bible study. Amy also cherished spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Jason (Janene) Grimes of Norwalk, Renee (David) Stringer of Norwalk, Kimberly (Paul) Pierce of Prairie City and Melissa Buchholz of Johnston; her 11 grandchildren, Heather Hall, Patricia (Jonathan) Phillips, Christine (Jeremy) Sweet, Michael (Angela) Grimes, Bradley Stringer, Brian (Jenna) Stringer, Chelsey (Chris) Sirridge, Katelyn (Tory) Forest, Brittany (Zach) Stiles, Zachary Buchholz and Jacob (Isabelle) Buchholz; and 20 great-grandchildren. Amy was preceded in death by her husband, Jason; her parents; and three of her six siblings.
Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA with visitation on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the funeral service on Saturday, January 16 at 12:00 noon. Amy will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jason, at Norwalk Cemetery. The funeral service is posted below.

I knew the family '67-'77 at Grace Baptist. S.W. 9th & Herold, and I cared for Melissa, then a toddler, in the Infant-to-2-year olds nursery at Grace Baptist.
She also sewed curtains while living on Kingman Blvd..
She and Jason were very fine folks, easy to like.
So sorry she left so "young" by today's standards.

Amy was such a sweet person and she loved our Lord. Her family was her greatest joy. She was a special person and a wonderful friend. I praise God for making her my friend.
