Helen Foust, 96, passed away on December 29, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society in Indianola, IA. She was born in Indianola, Iowa on February 23, 1924, to Earl and Georgie (Randolph) Roush. She grew up in Sandyville, Iowa.

She was an ornery and strong minded woman with strong morals yet very determined and hardworking. She retired from Walmart in 1989. She loved to travel by car and her first flight was in 1989. Helen married David Foust and they were married for 66 years. Helen made the best apple butter around town. She was an amazing cook with ribs that were phenomenal and spaghetti sauce that was homemade. Helen enjoyed putting puzzles together, paint, and wash windows. Above all, family was the most important thing to her.

Helen is survived by her children, Glenda (Lester) Statler, Vicki Foust, Debbie Brown, and Brian Foust; sister, Pat Selby; grandchildren, Randy Statler, Ron (Shelley) Statler, Robin (Brian) Smith, Ryan (Kasandra) Statler, Dale Brown, and Philip (Kristine) Brown; great-grandchildren, Jesse (Nikki) Smith, Cassandra (Tory) Heiden, Alex (Megan) Smith, Cameron Brown, Jayden Brown, Kaylee Statler, Natalea Statler, Britney Statler, Jenna Statler, Emma Statler, Logan Brown, Gavin Statler, Adeline Statler, Sammi Brown, Chloe Statler; great-great grandchildren, Caleb Lopez, Jayce Heiden, Megan Smith, Payton Smith, Keenan Lopez, Jayden Smith, Zane Smith, Layla Heiden, Rowan Smith, Nathan Smith; and sister-in-law, Jean Roush.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David Foust; parents; siblings, Betty (Ron) Black, Tom Roush, Rex (Ruth) Roush, Jim (Carolyn) Roush; brother-in-law, Glen Selby; and son-in-law, John Brown.

The family will greet friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. The family asks that all guests wear a mask and practice social distancing.
