Mikael Paul Mansmith, age 84, passed away on Monday December 7, 2020. Mike was born on December 20, 1935 in Arnolds Park, Iowa to David Paul Mansmith and Faye Elloween Overland Mansmith. He graduated from Arnolds Park High School and Iowa State College. He worked as a District Manager for Northwestern Bell and AT&T for 32 years. Mike resided in several cities during his life including Omaha, Sioux City, and West Des Moines. He served dutifully in the United States Army Reserve from 1956-1963.

Mike married Jo Anne Vickery on February 22, 1958 in Ankeny, Iowa. They enjoyed 52 wonderful years together until her death in 2010. Mike enjoyed spending time with his best friend, Nancy Connor over the last 7 years. He also enjoyed boating at Lake Okoboji, attending services at Valley Evangelical Free Church, and spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren. He was lovingly known as GGPA. Mike was a Free Mason, a member of Order of the Knoll, the Men’s Club at Edgewater Retirement Community, the National Cyclone Club, and an avid Iowa State Cyclones fan. Go Clones!

He is survived by his son, Eric Mansmith of Ankeny; daughter, Kris (Skip) Craig of Clive; daughter in-law; Dawn Mansmith of West Des Moines; brother, Air Force Lt. Col Fred T. (Coleen) Mansmith (retired) of Vail, AZ; five grandchildren, Katie (Jon) Ceolla of West Des Moines, Sarah (Danny) Jenkins of Boone, and Ethan Mansmith of Ankeny; and four great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Jackson Ceolla and Paisley and Josie Jenkins.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, David Paul Mansmith and Faye Elloween Mansmith; his wife, Jo Anne V. Mansmith; daughter, Lisa; son, Todd; and grandchildren, Ian and Zach Mansmith.

A memorial service will be held Monday, December 14, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
