Bob was born April 9, 1921, in Knoxville, Iowa to William and Cora Boren. He graduated from high school in St. Charles, Iowa in 1940. As a teenager, Bob learned to play the violin, an activity he loved, and continued to play throughout his life. He studied violin at the Peabody Institute and psychology at Johns Hopkins University. Both were located in Baltimore, Maryland where he lived for several years. Bob served in the army (97th Artillery, Trident Division) during WWII, travelling throughout Europe and Japan. In 1950, Bob married the love of his life, Joy Muller. They lived in Victor, Iowa until 1960 when their family moved to a farm near Altoona, Iowa. Bob worked for A.E. Dairy until retiring in 1982. During his retirement, Bob devoted a fair amount of his time to restoring and driving Studebaker automobiles. Bob and Joy saw a good share of the United States from behind the wheel of one of their Studebakers.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Joy, from cancer in 2012. Also preceding him in death were his siblings: Fred, Wilbur, Helen (Shutt), and Blanche (Welty). He is survived by his sons: Brent of Florida, Bert (Heidi) of Bondurant, Iowa and John (Diane) of Lost Nation, Iowa. Four grandchildren: Rick (Cindy) Silver, Tammie (Wayne) Silver, and Isaiah and Elijah Boren. Five great grandchildren and ten great, great grandchildren.
Bob accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour as a young adult and looked forward to his life in eternity!
“O Lord, I will honor and praise your name, you do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago and now you have accomplished them.” Isaiah 25:1

Brent, Bert, John and families. I share in your sorrow. Uncle Bob was one of the best Christian men and influenced my life for "good". I know he is with Jesus and Joy, and in the future we will have a grand family reunion around the throne of God. Love you all. Liz
