Virginia Wagner

Virginia Wagner, 88, passed away on January 29, 2007 at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Virginia was born April 28, 1918 in Des Moines to Cora and John Habick. She attended the Des Moines Public Schools. In 1939 she met the love of her life, Ernest J. Wagner. They were married on November 15, 1941 and their love affair continued for the next 65 years. Their love for each other was a love which centered around caring for each other and grew stronger with each passing year. Virginia cared not only for Ernest and her children but for many others as well. She helped folks in her neighborhood as well as nieces and nephews. She put the needs of others above her own. Both she and Ernest were active members of Chesterfield Christian Church and both helped prepare meals at the Chesterfield Dining Hall at the Iowa State Fairgrounds for many years. For the past 5 years Virginia was a member of Pleasant Hill Free Church.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Ernest ; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Glen Jensen of Apple Valley Minnesota; grandchildren, Jessica and Nick Jensen also of Apple Valley, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her son Robert John Wagner.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Hill Free Church, 4555 Parkridge Avnue, Pleasant Hill, Iowa 50327 in honor of Virginia’s memory.
