Opal Fillman

Opal E. Hayworth Fillman of Des Moines, died peacefully at her home on May 4, 2009, at 98 years young. She was born in Monroe County, Iowa on March 29, 1911. Her husband, her parents, one sister and three brothers preceded her in death. Three sisters, Pearl, Vera, Maxine and one brother, James, survive her.
Opal was a devoted wife of 49 years and a loving mother to Helen (Walter) Daniels, Beverly (Jack) Peebler and Larry (Kathryn) Fillman. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Besides being a homemaker, she taught Sunday school at Ft. Des Moines Presbyterian Church where she was a member. She washed and ironed uniforms for the WACS during WWII, sold Avon for many years and retired from Look Magazine.
Services will be held at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
