Christy L. Grubb
July 20, 2020
Christy L. Grubb, daughter of Everett “Jack” Burgess and Marjorie Burgess, was born in Des Moines, IA on July 15, 1950 and passed from this life on July 20, 2020. As a child and teenager, she was a fierce protector of her younger brothers as they grew up, and eventually attended Lincoln High School.
Christy was a fun-loving mother to three children, creating wonderful memories of childhood for them at home and on frequent family vacations to Siesta Key, FL and Lake of the Ozarks, MO. An avid cook of all the comfort foods, it was a special treat to taste her family recipe meatballs or chocolate cake. As her children left the nest, her nurturing nature then expanded to her dogs, Barney, Otis, Ben, and Maggie, who helped her while gardening or guarding the camper during frequent trips to Jester Park and Colorado. In her later years, she enjoyed working at HyVee Floral and The Bead Shop in Valley Junction, allowing her to show off her significant artistic talents.
Christy was loved and is survived by her companion of 25 years, Charles Thomas; 3 children, Eric (Lacey), Corrie, Andrew (Ruth); 3 grandchildren, Violet, Ophelia, Wilder; and her brothers, Steve (Clarann) and Tim (Gail). She was preceded in death by her parents.

Corrie, Eric, and Andrew,
Please know that I have been thinking of and praying for you daily since I received Corries call.
I very much enjoyed my friendship with your mom.
Christy always beamed when she talked about you three and her grandchildren.
God will keep her close to you as she lives on in each of you.
May His healing grace comfort you.
