In Loving Memory of Henry Clay Cox, Jr.
Henry Clay Cox, Jr. (58) also known as Hank, was born February 20th, 1962 in San Diego, CA. He is the only natural born child created from the union of Henry Clay Cox, Sr. and Lillian Gissendanner. He passed away from cardiac arrest June 24th, 2020. Although Henry’s life may have been cut short, he touched the hearts of many while he was with us. His infectious laughter, kindness, positive vibe, spirituality, unconditional love and friendship will be missed.
Henry loved life and had many hobbies. He loved swimming in his pool. As a child he took karate lessons. He played football with his family. His nickname was "Robert Tank Homes!" His favorite NFL quarterback growing up was Joe Montana. He now has added new QB favorites among which are Russell Wilson and of course Patrick Mahomes II, who he called "My Homie." As an army military child through his mom, he traveled around Europe. He taught himself German, and loved driving on his moped (motorized bike) exploring. Henry had a love for music and studied percussion. His high school band performed in competitions, and at a Cotton Bowl game. He was on the debate team. While in college at Drake, he created his own pop locking dance group called the Soul Fire Poppers. They performed at events and in clubs around town. Recently he became spiritual and shared scriptures daily with friends and loved ones.
Henry absolutely doted on his children, Corey and Codi Cox. They were his world and made him so proud! He worked hard to provide for his family. He started in HVAC and moved himself up into the consulting and energy management industry; became Operations Manager for a fortune 100 energy company and went on to run his own business.
Learning was one of the favorite things he did for fun. His accomplishments are as follows:
Recipient of 13 college scholarships ranging in areas of study from math, science, medicine, to music. He accepted a percussion scholarship at Drake University
Regis University:
Bachelor of Science Business Administration: Management,
(Magna Cum Laude)
Master of Science
(Graduate Honors)

My deepest condolences to the Cox Family. I met Henry in high school and after about 40 years, I reconnected with him. He sent me daily scripture to guide me through my day for many months when all of the sudden, the text stopped, June 17, 2020. I reached out to him again recently without a response until I found this obituary today, 12/10/20. I'll miss him. I thank God for Henry Clay Cox Jr.

Bren, Corey, Codi, Lil and Family.
As I am sure Hank has mentioned, early in our relationship @ SEM, I had asked Hank to be my Mentor. Since those days our bond had flourished and through the years we have taken on many
of life's challenges head on.
Hank embodied the spirit of a champion and was an undeniable force
to reckon with, all the while maintaining a heart of gold.
My brother for all time, you will be sorely missed !

I was Hank's committee chair for a part of his doctoral journey at Rockies. I am sorry we were not able to finish that journey as I know how committed he was. We talked regularly and exchanged holiday greetings. I know how proud he was of his family. Truly, I will miss him.

Hey family, I just want to let you all know how much I miss my nephew. I still look for those scriptures every morning and those phone calls that always came at the right time. We would laugh so much on the phone. It just doesn't seem real that he is not here. He and I could talk about any and everything. I pray God keep you all wrapped in His arms of Comfort. You remain in our hearts and in our thoughts. We love you all dearly. Blessings??

My sincere condolences to the entire Cox family. I was one of Henry's professors from the University of the Rockies and then Ashford University. He was a fine man with a big heart and an easy laugh. I appreciated his intellect and his dedication to making this world a better place. Please accept my sympathy.
