Norma Conrath 69, died April 24, 2009 at Kavanagh House on 56th St. in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home with visitation from 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Norma was born on October 9, 1939 in Adel, Iowa and grew up in Des Moines graduating from Lincoln High School. Norma's job as an American Airlines ticket agent made it possible for her to see the world. She most recently moved back to Iowa from Orlando, Fl. in January.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorrie (Ben) Thompson; son, Michael Conrath both of Des Moines; brother, Robert Byg of Hollywood, CA; half sister, Cindy Goodman of California; 2 granddaughters and 1 great granddaughter.

I am so sorry that your Mom passed away. Her, Bernadine and me were the three close cousins. It was good to talk her on the phone recently. I know it hurts but the hurt will dull and the memories will replace it. I remember at a Christmas time we always put on shows and this time the three of us did an Hawaiian song complete with costume. The exciitment came when my top suddenly fell and I bared it all. This was embarassing for a teen but I survived. There are so many memories of the good times we had together.

We are sorry that we will not be able to be at her services. Norma was a very fun cousin and we enjoyed the times we had together. She would come to our home at a moments notice to play cards and have a sleep over. We will miss her very much.

the spur of the moment trips that meant so much to her. She luved

I remember the day Norma was born. She has been a good friend all her life.
I would call her from California and say "Hey, I'm having company. Want to come out?" And she would be here to enlighten our party. We will miss her so very much. Our love and prayers to the family.

To Lorrie and Michael,
I send up my prayers for you as you grieve this great loss in your lives. I ask God to hold you close and bring you comfort and healing. I have lots of fond memories of when you would travel to Sioux Falls to see family and all the fun we had together as cousins. Norma Jean (as she was called by my dad (Uncle Nook)) was always the life of the gathering and had such a wonderful infectious laugh. I will forever treasure those memories. Just think of all the card playing that will be taking place now in heaven!

NORMA WAS A FRIEND OF MINE IN H.S. AND SHE BABYSIT FOR ME (DURING LAST HALF OF THE 60'S) ...... FOR OUR DAUGHTER, TAMI, WHILE I WORKED.
I KNOW SHE WILL BE MISSED. WE LIVE IN AZ. NOW, AND WILL NOT BE ATTENDING SERVICES, BUT I WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW HOW MUCH SHE WILL BE REMEMBERED BY MANY PEOPLE.
