Dear Karen and Family,
I heard today that Alan passed away and I am very sorry that you have lost someone important to your family. Hold your memories and thoughts very close - remembering that life is a little sweeter having them to relive and enjoy with one another.
I am out of town visiting my daughter, but I wish I could have been there to offer comfort and support for you. Please let me know if I can do anything Karen - you are in my thoughts.
Sincerely,
Joan Christensen

Dear Karen and Family,
I want to express our sympathy to you on the death of Alan. Joyce had told us that he was very ill. My girlfriend's sister died of a very similar cancer, so I can understand how devastating this is for you. This cancer just took over his body, although I am sure his spirit was intact. He just could not win this battle. I am also sure that Alan touched many people in a positive way. One never knows the impact one will have on another. I am sure that in the next few days you will hear of Alan's impact on those he knew, befriended, and loved. I hope those words bring you much comfort. I remember when Alan showed up in my office doorway with Mary Lou, to visit some people here. What a surprise that was and I very much enjoyed my visit with both of them. I suppose that was three years or so ago. Alan is at peace now, with no more suffering. He has achieved what we all are striving for - to be with God in heaven. I know that this surely was not in our time, as we wanted
Alan with us here so much longer. I pray that you and your family feel a peace about you and that you find the strength you need to get through this sad time. With our deepest sympathy, Jim and Connie Eckhoff
