Dusty Smith
May 14, 2020
Dusty R. “Ducky” Smith, age 60, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines due to cancer.
Dusty was born June 7, 1959 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was an over the road truck driver for most of his life. The man could drive in his sleep! This line of work took him to all but two states in the U. S. He also drove cement trucks locally. Dusty was a jokester and could always make people laugh. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and loved the outdoors – especially fishing. He loved his friends and family and would do anything for them. Dusty was the rock of the family, always taking wonderful care of Carolyn and her four children. He had a huge heart and was a dog lover.
He is survived by his wife, who he married on January 17, 2017, Carolyn (Young) Smith; step-children, Heather, Angel, Paul, and Jessica; grandchildren, Javier, Vanessa, Christian, Aliyah, Carmen, Aubrey, Blake, Kaiden, and Jonah; siblings, Michael (Peggy Lynn) Smith and Kelly (Mark) Clark; and many other extended family and friends.
Dusty was preceded in death by his father, Loran M. Smith Jr.; mother, Marian Thomas; and step-father, Kent Thomas.
Dusty will be returned to the earth on his family’s grounds in Woolstock, Iowa.
His honorary pallbearers are: Michael Smith, Mark Clark, Spanky, Bud Doland, Craig, Paul Collins Jr., Brandon Simmons, Scott Fleming, and John Anderson.

I didn't really know Dusty, only through Carolyn his wife. I do know that he made her very happy, and they loved each other and was not afraid to show it. May you rest in peace Dusty.
