Larry Douglas

Larry K. Douglas, 76, passed away on May 9, 2020, at his home in Des Moines. He was born at home in Winterset, Iowa, on November 26, 1943, to Ancil and Sadie Douglas.

Larry was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Thrasher Service Corp. as an HVAC Technician.

Larry cherished his family and time spent with his grandchildren. He and his wife Micki loved wintering in Destin, FL for numerous years where they created many lasting friendships.

Larry enjoyed fishing, traveling, visiting casinos, and eating sweets. He was exceptionally crafty and was oftentimes found tinkering or creating things.

Larry is survived by his children, Lory Allen, Sindy (John) Rivas, Ryan (Sabrina) Ralph, and Samantha Ragsdale; grandchildren, Brian and Sharlett Allen, Tessa and Johnathan Rivas, and KaiLani Ragsdale; sister, Jean Clompton; sister-in-law, Roxie Carrigan, as well as other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Micki, 5 siblings, and his parents.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa. Please join the family at 1:00 p.m. to leave in procession from Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
