Brian Duane Nappe
April 08, 2020
Brian Duane Nappe, 52, lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, April 8 at Kavanagh House. No services will be held at this time, but condolences and expressions of support may be expressed to the family at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.
Brian was born June 27, 1967 in Carroll, Iowa to Verlene (Johnson) and Wilmer Nappe. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1985 and then from DMACC with his Associate Degree in 1989. Brian worked for CenturyLink for over 20 years. He met his love, Debbie Carr, at a dance in Dexter 26 years ago.
Brian had a love of all things trains and planes. His dad worked for the railroad and this spurred a fascination of steam engines. Brian and Debbie frequented air shows and train museums around the Midwest and enjoyed many day trips. Brian also took great pleasure in feeding the neighborhood squirrels. Best of all was his sense of adventure and wonder for the world. It wasn’t unusual for him to say “let’s hit the road” at the drop of a hat. This brought many wanderings for Brian and Debbie, including leaving for Cancun without hotel reservations, hoping in the car for road trips to unknown destinations, and always having a fun experience.
He will be greatly missed by his wife and adventure buddy, Debbie Carr; his mother, Verlene Johnson; his sister, Beverly (Chris) Reed and their son, Todd (Chelsey) Maynard; step-daughter, Sam (Ryan) Dempster and their children, Natalie, Layla (who affectionately renamed Brian GP27) and Quinn; and step-son, Michael (Annie) Massure and their children, Paxton, Penelope and Phoenix.
Memorials may be directed to EveryStep Hospice Kavanagh House, 900 56th Street, Des Moines, IA 50312 in honor of Brian and the wonderful care he received there.
