Michelle Harmon
February 28, 2020
Michelle (Garrett) Harmon was born November 18, 1968 in Des Moines, Iowa to Michael and Terri (Hardenbrook) Garrett. She passed away Friday, February 28, 2020 at the age of 51 after a lengthy illness.
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 29 years, Kevin; her children, Jordan (Emily) Harmon, Kenna (Reed Little) Harmon, and Keeli Harmon; granddaughter, Evelyn Harmon; parents, Terri and Jim Akins and Mike Garrett; siblings, Missy (Pete) Nelson, Jason Garrett, and Amy (Pete) Kariotis; nieces and nephews, Nick, Nathan, Brooklynn, Eleni, and Brinklee; grandparents, Margaret Akins and Merle Bates; parents-in-law, Larry and Phyllis Harmon; sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and Chuck Thompson; and many other loving family members and countless friends.
Michelle was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jean Hardenbrook, Jack Hardenbrook, Ruth Bates, and Howard Akins; and her cousin, Renee Roberts.
Michelle loved little get-aways with Kevin and her family, especially to the Amanas and Lake Thunderhead. She was extremely artsy and very talented when it came to any type of craft, but she especially shined when she was creating flower arrangements. She enjoyed reading, and you would mostly likely find a risqué novel in her hands.
Michelle treasured time spent with her family, especially her beloved granddaughter, Evelyn. Michelle’s favorite title in the whole world was “Grandma Shell” and she melted whenever she heard those sweet words out of her little “best friend”, Evelyn. Michelle’s family meant everything to her, they were her whole world. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt – she loved her nieces and nephews with her whole heart.
“For them I risked it all”
“Because of her I will not fall”

Her sweetness, her special grand smile, her kind optimism and loyal love for her family and friends. There are far too many more traits of hers to count that made her so special. She will be missed in so many ways forever. My heart breaks for her family, I can only imagine how deeply you feel the void from her absence, but we all know your mama bear will never be far from you. I wish so much we could have her back. All my love to you. God bless her sweet soul for all eternity.

So sorry for your loss, Michell was such a beautiful person, she would always have cookies for my grandkids , Kesha, Tee, Debrytae & Nechelle when they were little. They always enjoyed going up to her house to visit. She was a great neighbor & We always talked especially in the grocery, that seem to be our unannounced meeting place. Sending our sincere condolences & praying for the family

We may not understand why sad things happen, may it somehow help to know how much I care. I wish to express my sympathy in your loss and to let you & your family know that my heart aches for all of you, and with many prayers and thoughts are with you.
Michelle was an inspiration.. The times we chatted or ran into each other she never complained, and was living her life as it was. In school she brought joy to those she touched & met, and that continued on. She never judge & loved all. Something that many of us forget, & take for granted; Michelle did not. Thank you Michelle; you left in imprint in many lives especially mine! Especially those years at EHS.
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy on the passing of your loved one.. One great woman that you all called daughter, wife, mom, sister, & grandma!

Oh my heart is so sad for all of us! Michelles smiles and hugs warmed my heart! Not too long ago, we talked and shared precious stories remembering our little ones growing up together. She loved her family and was so proud of each of you and your accomplishments. Until we meet again, fly high my friend.

My heart is broken that Michelle has passed away. Michelle was such a kind, caring and loving person. Michelle and I grew up less than a block from eachother part of our childhoods. I missed her when she moved away. When Facebook came along we reconnected. What a blessing to be able to talk to her again and share our life stories. I am so very sorry for the loss of Michelle to her husband, her children, her grandchildren, all of her family and all of her friends. I was blessed to have you Michelle as my friend. I will cherish our childhood times together and our times messaging eachother these last years. One message just days before you passed away. I will miss you terribly my friend. I love you.
