Darryl M. Allen, age 71, passed away at his home on Friday, January 3, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 16, 1948 in Pineville, LA. Darryl was raised in Amityville Long Island, New York.

He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1968-1969. Darryl moved to Iowa in 1979, he worked in marketing and sales for Ingram Entertainment where he retired from in 2008. He was a member of Our Savior Full Baptist Church, Royal Dukes of Des Moines, Waveland Golf Association and St. Paul AME Church, and several Bowling Leagues in Des Moines. Darryl was an avid football and sports fan and enjoyed coaching tee ball.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Angela Allen; daughters, Tina, Delores, Kimberly and Yolanda; step-daughters, Joanuna Bickham and Thressy Jones; brother, Michael (Marvel) Allen; nephew, Michael Allen Jr.; and a host of extended family and friends.

Darryl was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Jessie Allen; and first wife, Vesta Allen.

Family will greet friends at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2020, with funeral service following at 1:30 p.m., at St. Paul AME Church, 1201 Day St, Des Moines. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
