Frank W. Brunia
March 22, 2009
Frank William Brunia left this life on March 22, 2009. Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, March 26th 2009 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with burial following at North River Cemetery. A visitation will be from 5-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Born on May 14 1947, to Frank and Lois L. Brunia in Des Moines, he attended country school in Warren County and graduated from Indianola High School. He then attended Northwest Missouri State University (NWMSU) in Maryville, Missouri, for a year and enlisted in the military serving in Berlin, Germany, from 1967-1973. After service, he returned to NWMSU, where he met his wife, Edith Harris.
Their married life began in Chillicothe, Missouri, where Brunia served as a fireman and EMT for the Chillicothe Fire Department. After the birth of their first child, the family moved to rural Warren County in 1975. In Warren County, Frank was active in the Warren County Democrats, The Warren County Zoning Board and Board of Adjustment since 1979.
Frank worked lifelong for Brunia-Johnson Electric Supply Corporation originally serving under his father, Frank Brunia, Sr., and later as president. He earned his Master Class A Electrical license in 2008. Frank loved the electrical business as much as he loved farming, something he did continually after returning to Iowa. He also enjoyed being a Greenfield Township Trustee, and was especially involved in working towards the completion of the new Northern Warren Fire Department building. He was proud of his four children and five grandchildren and enjoyed their visits immensely.
Frank Brunia is survived by his wife Edee of 36 years, and children Frank William (Teresa), Daisy, Estella, and Frank VI; Melissa Brunia-Brown (Stephen); Christine Walker (Jariah) and Drake; Robert William (Autumn) and Ella; his sister Ann, brother Fred and parents Frank and Lois Brunia.
In lieu of flowers, the Brunia family has requested donations be made to the Northern Warren Fire Department.

Mrs. Brunia,
You do not know me nor did I meet your husband but when I read the article in the Indianola paper I knew that he had had contact with our family and I knew it because the article mentioned that he so freely GAVE of his knowledge of electricity.
Our son had contact with him at Brunia Johnson when he went down there this fall/winter. He was having trouble with a garage door that suddenly was not working on a consistent basis which told us it had to do with electricity. He went to the store to purchase a new breaker for the box thinking maybe that was the problem. Your husband was very kind to a young man and suggested that maybe the problem lay in a ground wire touching something since Tim had been into the box recently doing some remodeling. Our son purchased a breaker, just in case, and went back to his home in Altoona and checked the breaker box - yes, your husband was exactly right and the problem was solved easily and not only did Tim learn something new but his dad learned something as well. Tim was so impressed with the kindness of your husband that he told us via a phone call that night.
When I saw of his sudden death I shared the article with Tim this week and asked "Is this the man that helped you so freely?" and of course the answer was yes.
We are so sorry to read of his death and know that your family is missing him very much. Your husband seemed to be very generous and helpful not only in his business but with the community at large.
Sincerely,
