Vikki C. Turner
October 18, 2019
Vikki Carol Turner, age 60, passed away after a brief illness on October 18, 2019.
Vikki was born July 25, 1959 in Des Moines, Iowa to Carl Carroll Turner, Sr. and Bertha Marlene Turner. She was educated in the Des Moines Public Schools, graduated from Roosevelt High School, and attended Des Moines Area Community College.
Vikki was very innovative and enjoyed crafting from a very young age. She could repurpose any item and make it useful or more beautiful. Her artistic and creative mind brought about Tase’, her on-line all natural health and hygiene products. She enjoyed researching natural products that helped with healing and beauty.
Vikki cherished children, and loved their un-filtered off the cuff remarks! She would laugh until tears ran from her eyes. She was an exceptional educator to her children. She treated them with kindness and respect, which brought about positive results.
Vikki is survived by her son, David (Amber) Turner; her siblings, Carl Turner, Timothy Turner, Jeffrey (Lisa) Turner and Joseph Turner; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Roseanna Turner; her father, Carl Turner; and her mother, Bertha Turner.
A celebration of Vikki’s life will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be made directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in loving memory of Vikki.

I was so sad to hear the news this morning that my cousin was gone. But as the day went on I remembered that this life is only one of the paths we must travel and I know mine and Vikk's paths will cross again. Although my heart is heavy I know we will see each other again. My condolences to her brothers and their families. Much, much love.

To Vikki family. I'm very sorry for your loss. I worked with Vikki at Woodland Day Care Center. Vikki was a great teacher and leader. I'm going to miss her smile and laughter. Vikki taught me how to drive my first stick shift car. She drove it off the lot for me. It took me about 2hrs to learn how to drive my car, but she was very patience with me. She kept encouraginging me that I could do it. And I did it. Thanks to her. I remember going over to her house on 2nd Ave that steep hill. We had fun. Vikki I will see you again .R.I.H.

Vicki was a wonderful supporter and inspirational in me becomeing a special eduaction teacher. She was especially kind to both my kids and supported me by providing my daughter rides to school while I was student teaching. Vikki was always an Angel Vikki for me every time I was able to converse with her or just cast my eyes upon her! My grandchildren and all of my family thank God for the time we were allowed to share with his Angel!

Vicki touched our lives in an uplifting way. She often greeted us as the kids crossed the street into the school each morning. For years, she sang "These boots are made for walking" which helped ease the nervous apprehension one of my daughters experienced in her earlier years. I share her optimistic outlook towards life even when times are super hard. She was a constant source of motivation for the kids and even me. A blessing to our community. I am so sad to lose her and prayerful that she will continue her mission forever!
