Susan Jones
September 09, 2019
Sue Jones, 57, joined hands with God on September 9, 2019. She was born on August 20, 1962 to Keith and Darlene (Thede) Williams.
She grew up and graduated from Carlisle High School. After high school, she met and fell in love with Scott Jones. They wed on June 25, 1983. Throughout their married life, they were proud residents of Altoona. Together, Sue and Scott raised three outstanding children. During the kids' school years, Sue could be found in the stands supporting her kids, their friends and the Southeast Polk Rams.
Though she had a work ethic that was uncanny to any other, her pride and joy was her family. Sue loved nothing more than simply spending time with her grandchildren. She was actively involved in their lives in multiple ways. She enjoyed taking them to the beach, spectating practices, going to their games and was not above getting on the floor to wrestle with them either. As much as she adored them, they adored her equally as much and will be deeply missed by them.
She had a love for her animals and grand animals too. She could always be found bringing treats for the dogs, spending quality snuggle time with the cats and bestowed a presence in their lives too.
Sue was the most selfless person around. A legacy has been created and though taken from us too soon, she has left an everlasting impression on all those who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Scott; children, Boyd (Brach) Jones, Ashley (Josh McCombs) Jones, and Josh (Madison Short) Jones; her grandchildren, Boyd, Westin, Gunner, William, Sisily, Carter, Avery and Sawyer; her mother, Darlene Williams; brothers, Mike & Brian; sisters, Karen & Laurie and many nieces and nephews.
Sue is preceded in death by her father, Keith Williams.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
Memorial service will be 6 PM Friday, September 13, 2019 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4 PM – 6 PM prior to the service.
