Betty Greer

Betty Greer, 89, died Monday, March 9, 2009 at Union Park Health Services. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2009 at Easton Place United Methodist Church, 2412 Easton Blvd. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Private family burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Betty was born at home in Redfield, Iowa on July 24, 1919 to Marshall and Mattie Miller. She graduated from East High School in 1937. Betty was united in marriage to Bill Greer on June 1, 1956. She retired from Sears & Roebuck in 1981 after over 40 years of service. She was active in her AARP Chapter and until recent years was a volunteer at the Senior Centers. Betty was a member of Easton Place United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clel Johnson; second husband, Bill Greer; six sisters; and her stepson, Jim Greer. She is survived by her daughters, Julie (Loren) Marker and Janice (Mike) Hoffman, both of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Adam (Robin) Hoffman, Alex (Shannon) Hoffman and Jessica Marker; two great-grandsons, Samuel Hoffman and one soon to be born, Cash Hoffman.
