Jerry Brown, 69, died unexpectedly on January 23, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
Jerry graduated from Lincoln High School, where he played football, basketball and baseball.
Since his retirement in 2001, he enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy; sons John (Kathy) Neal and Kirk (Brenda) Brown; grandchildren Connor and Cameron Neal and Taylor and Blake Brown; brothers Don and Larry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mabel Brown and brothers Fred and Bob.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th St., Des Moines, Iowa and funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Indianola Heights Christian Church.

Dear Nancy, John & Kirk: Pat & I and sending our sincere condolences in the passing of your Husband and father Jerry. We love you all and we have been and will continue to pray for Gods comforting hand and peace thru this time of Jerry's passing away. It was so good to speak to you today Nancy and I really treasure our friendship over the years, and then to be related thru the Brown family as well. I know your sons do not know us personally but will kind of make the connection with me being the nephew of Bert & Fred, and cousin of Kent and Donna. Please give our wishes of deepest synpathy to all of the Brown family and we know as the story of the "Footprints" these are the times when God carries us in his strong very capable arms thru this time of loss in your lives. We do have the times of vistitation and Services and will continue to think of you all and will be PRAYING for Gods perfect peace and comfort for you. It looks like the weather is not too good there and hoping that it would warm up a bit for you. It was sooo good to see you both at the A.L.H.S. 50th re-union gathering in Sept. and also at Culvers when the Rusher-Brown family came together for that afternoon. Again you have our deepest Love and may the God of all comfort be with you now and in the days and weeks ahead.
