Helen Newland

Helen Mary Newland, age 79, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines. Private family burial will be Friday in Mt. Washington Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri.
Helen was born October 24, 1927 to Adam and Bernice Keller in Centerville, Iowa and graduated from Centerville High School. She was a caring, loving and thoughtful wife and mother. She loved reading, traveling, golf, bowling, crafts, and spending time with her family.
Helen is survived by her husband, Robert; sons, Thomas (Judy) of Sunrise Beach, MO and James of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Mary Helen (Phil) Nordhus of Johnston; grandsons, Christopher and Andrew Nordhus of Johnston; sister, Alice Nordgulen of Detroit Lakes, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Golder, Leslie, Charles, Howard, Curtis, and Oran.
