Alice Maxine Woods, 77, passed away March 9, 2019 at Edencrest at Beaverdale.
Alice was born July 22, 1941, in Des Moines to Joseph and Tillie (Lucia) Palmer, now deceased. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959. In 1960 she married Larry Woods, and they were blessed with three children.
She was a beautician at Bond’s Beauty Shop for many years. Once her grandchildren arrived, she dedicated Monday through Thursday to babysitting. Fridays were reserved for one of her favorite pastimes, “garaging.” She treasured the fact that she was able to watch all six grandchildren over the years and loved every minute, and her grandchilren loved their “Non" right back. She was an excellent cook and baker; her fried chicken, mashed potatoes/gravy, and hockey pucks (crispy and garlicy English Muffins) were the absolute best! Alice celebrated and decorated her house for every holiday. She baked trays of Christmas goodies which were delivered to friends, neighbors, doctors and family. Alice was a beautiful woman with a sparkling personality and a wardrobe to match; always dressed to the nines. Alice was an active member of the Lincoln High School Alumni Association. She was looking forward to planning and attending her 60th class reunion this year. Alice’s other passions included dancing, ceramics and finding great shopping deals. She was a devout Catholic and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Alice is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Larry; children, Joe (Julie) of Minneapolis, Lori (Dean) Bellville of Scottsdale, and Deanna (Tim) Curtis of Waukee; grandchildren, Rozlynn (John) Woods, J.J. (Alana) Woods, Kollin Bellville, Alex (Marisa) Bellville, Cole Curtis and Bennett Curtis; three great-grandchildren; brother, Tony (Judie) Palmer; sister, Maxine (Mike) Flaherty; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and beloved friends, who loved her very much.
