Marcia Chapman

Marcia Chapman, 72, passed away February 10, 2019, at EveryStep Kavanagh House in Des Moines. She was born February 18, 1946, to Erie and Madaline Clark.
Marcia married Donald Chapman on October 1, 1965, and traveled to Germany with him where he served during the Vietnam era. She worked at Mercy Medical Center as a technician in the cath lab for more than 20 years and was also a receptionist at Nationwide for 12 years.
Marcia was a devoted member of the Salvation Army Church where she served as a prayer warrior, volunteer, and teacher for Girl Guards. With her fighting spirit, Marcia was a breast cancer survivor and was known as the Miracle Woman at church.
Marcia enjoyed cooking and baking, but above all else, she treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Marcia is survived by her husband, Don Chapman; daughters, Donna (Russ) Richardson, Patty (Scott) Lourens, and Tammy (Rod) Brown; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Raymond Clark, Marilynn Atcheson, and Scott (Mitsu) Clark; as well as other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2019, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m.

Dear Don and family,
We are sending our prayers and asking the Lord to hold you in his arms to help you through this time.
Marcia will be missed, but will always be in my heart. From the first day 53 years ago at Mercy Hospital, Marcia held out her hand to me and forever touched my heart.
