Henry "Hank" D. Ditolla
January 07, 2019
Henry D. Ditolla died on Monday, January 7, 2019, losing his battle with Leukemia, while surrounded by loved ones. Hank was born on December 23, 1943 in Denver, Colorado. From his birth until the time he went to the Lord, Hank had so many people gravitate to him because of who he was. He was a selfless, caring, motivated, and a loyal father, husband, and grandfather. He had a way of walking into a room and unloading his sense of humor that made people instantly gravitate towards him.
Hank served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966. He worked as an aircraft refueler in the Philippine’s during the Vietnam War. During his service time, Hank developed an intense passion for aviation. So much so, that once he was honorably discharged in 1966, he went to work for United Airlines in Des Moines, Iowa. He retired in 2003 after 36 years of dedication in the airline industry. After retirement, he spent an immense amount of time with his family and friends. From taking trips to Okoboji, to weekends spent at Lake Thunderhead, he lived life to it’s fullest. Hank loved his “Grandbabies”, Peyton and Quinn. He also loved to hang out with his United Airlines retirees. They had a ritual to meet every Tuesday night because of the intense bond they had with each other. Once he retired, Hank held some part-time jobs to pass the time. One being at Stew Hansen’s in Urbandale as a parts delivery driver where he made many more life-long friends. Hank will be dearly missed by all of his friends, family and colleagues.
Hank came from a family of 11. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jennie; and his sister, Joann. He is survived by his sisters, Josephine, Dorothy, Betty, Debbie, Marcie, and Peggy; brothers, Mike, Jimmy, and Marty; and had many nieces and nephews; daughter, Angela Berg (Eric); son, Nicholas Ditolla (Debbie) and their children, Peyton and Quinn.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior, at St. Boniface Church, 1200 Warrior Lane in Waukee, Iowa.

My condolences to the family. Death is an enemy to us all. GOD's word can give you strength and comfort. GOD promises a resurrection (Acts 24:15) We will see our loved ones again, living on a paradise earth, where death and pain will be no more. (Rev.21:3-5; Psalms 37:11,29) For more comfort from the scriptures go to jw.org.

Hank was a huge part of my life growing up, well, he was a huge part of anything he was a part of. Charisma levels off the charts, with a great knack of caring for everyone he touched. Haven't been around much the last few years, but the love I have for you never lessened. Love ya Pops!!!
