Service Details
Steve Winn, 49, died Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House. The funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th St. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Steve was born July 20, 1959 in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the Warwick Renaissance, and enjoyed reenacting the Viking era. He also enjoyed camping, canoeing, playing the guitar, world history, and spending time with family and friends.
Steve is survived by his children: Brian and Jessica; his mother Juliana Roberts; his brother, Jeff & Tammy Winn; his aunt and uncles: Mike & Kathleen Winn, and Leslie Pitt; and his longtime companion, Diane Hart. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Winn, and his grandparents.

i only learned of Steves' passing a year ago and just now found this obit. I understand his dad and uncle mike were friends of my father as well as Jon Jeffers dad (Paul) it was pretty cool that all the sons were also friends in high school. i lost connection with steve when i moved to ca. in 79 and upon moving back in 89 looked him up and finally talked to him on the phone. he seemed like he wanted nothing to do with kansas city for some reason and sounded depressed. i only wish i could have seen him one more time. he taught me quite a bit on guitar and we spent many hours together playing and singing at line creek park and various other places around town. i miss him and think of him often.
