Camilla Martel

Camilla A. Martel, 90, of New Albany, Indiana died peacefully Friday afternoon at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She had been living near her son in Des Moines at the Fleur Heights Care Center. Camilla was retired from the Courier Journal after 22 years of service in the accounting department. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany, Indiana, the Daughters of Isabella and the Holy Family Marian Guild. She was born in New Albany, Indiana on July 17, 1916 to the late William F. and Catherine (Trindeitmar) Miller. Camilla was also preceded in death by her husband John R. Martel. She is survived by a son J. Richard Martel and his wife Jill E. Sorenson of Des Moines, a daughter Linda K. Swibold and her husband Richard of Tucson, Arizona, a grandson, Mark W. Dinsmore and his wife Christianne and their son Adam W. Dinsmore as well as a granddaughter Laura L. Dinsmore.
Visitation will be from 3 PM to 8 PM Wednesday, January 3, 2007, and after 10 AM Thursday at Generations Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Ln., New Albany). There will be a rosary service at 7 PM Wednesday. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 AM Thursday, January 4, 2007 at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in New Albany, IN.
Contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or Fleur Heights Care Center.
