Service Details
Marjorie Smiley, 96, of Des Moines died Sunday at home. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 314 Army Post Road; burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Marjorie was born March 7, 1912. She graduated from Lincoln High School and attended the Bible Institute for three years. Marjorie and her husband Robert served together in Christian ministry for more than 50 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting.
Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her great delight.
Marjorie is survived by her children, David (Nancy) Smiley and Douglas (Eileen) Smiley; her grandchildren, Susan (David) Armoogam, Marsha (Mark) Linebach, Elizabeth (Dan) Taylor, Steven (Lisa) Smiley and David Scott Smiley; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert and her sister, Mary Schaff.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church in loving memory of Marjorie.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your Mother and Grandmother. She lived a long and full life and she is now enjoying her eternity walking on the streets of gold. My family and I will be praying for you during these difficult days.

Doug, David and families,
We are so very sorry to hear about your mom. She was such a special lady, and so loving and giving. Whenever I would call to see how she was, she ALWAYS asked about Lisa, and would pray for her right then. I'm sure Heaven is rejoicing for the saint they have received, even though we are terribly grieved. Her loss will be felt by people more than you can imagine. God bless her. Mom and Lisa said they are very sorry also. She will be greatly missed.

There are no words to describe the pleasure your Mother gave to us.
She was a Saint and I'm sure you rejoice that she and R G are together again at last. Praise to the Lord for His grace and loving care He gave Marjorie all these years. No life could be a better example.
