Kenneth “Ken” W. Hunt, 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Friday, October 3, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Berwick Cemetery in Berwick. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Ken was born June 2, 1935 in Des Moines to Kenneth and Dorothy Hunt. He graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Drake University, his Master’s of Divinity at the American Baptist Seminary in Berkeley, California and a Master’s in Counseling at the University of Northern Iowa. Ken had a lifelong passion for education and continued taking classes at Grand View College up to the time of his death. He served in the U.S. Army and worked for his family’s business, Hunt Salvage of Des Moines. Ken was active in his church, Heartland Christian Fellowship.
Ken is survived by his wife of 23 years, Betty; step-children, John Naughton of West Des Moines; Steve Naughton of Orlando, Florida, Joann (Doug) Workman of Pleasant Hill, Kathy (Rick) Wozniak of Orlando, Florida and Mary (Steve) Sieloff of Indianola; six grandchildren; sister, Judith (Bob) Courtney of Woodburn, Iowa; and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Christian Fellowship.
Ken continued to give in death just as in life by being an organ donor.
