Joyce R. Woods, 81, passed away at her home after a long battle with cancer on October 17, 2018.
Joyce was born April 14, 1937 in Des Moines to Richard and LaVerne Peachey. She enjoyed gardening, camping, crafting, painting, crocheting and baking. Joyce will be remembered as always being dressed to the T and having jewelry to match. She loved having company and spending time with her grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her children, Shelley (Don III) Knox, Mark (Susan) Woods and Gary Woods; grandchildren, Amanda (David) Connelly, Sarah Knox, Lacey Woods, Madison Woods (Michael Wilcut), Payton Woods, Emily Woods, Nicole Woods, Lauren Woods and Lillian Woods; great-grandchildren, Owen, Emma, Stella, and Reyden; brother, Gary (Mary) Peachey; cousin, Arie (Wilma) Pack; and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ernest; daughter-in-law, Christine Woods; granddaughter, Morgan Woods; and her parents.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2018 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.

Sincere and heartfelt condolences to her kids, grandkids, great grands, extended family and all those who knew this sweet woman. Her heart was bigger than she. I loved seeing her and Ernie when they came to pick up Nicole, Lauren and Lily from my home. She was a driving force and a true matriarch of the Woods family. To her kids Shelley, Mark, And Gary, and all the Grandkids, so sorry what a Great fighter she was. You have so many Great Memories.
I will always remember how welcome she made me feel when I joined the family. She was a "Great" Aunt Joyce to me.
