Wanda Reyes

Wanda Grace (McAfee) Reyes, 92, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018, following a brief illness. Wanda was born December 26, 1925, in Des Moines, Iowa to Merle and Hazel (Gilmore) McAfee. She married Robert Reyes and they were blessed with 75 years of marriage. Wanda’s life was her family. She was their constant source of support and she enjoyed nothing more than taking care of everyone. Her grandchildren were treasured by her and she loved keeping track of everyone’s activities. Wanda was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She enjoyed reading and sitting on her front porch.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Carolyn Nelson and Marilyn (Dan) Josephsen; grandchildren, April (Gena) Nelson, E.J. Nelson, Alan Nelson (Shauna Quillen), Kari (Brandon) Glenn, Jared (Shriya) Josephsen, Lisa Josephsen (Dax Wedemeyer), Jordan Josephsen (Sarah Borzo); numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Bobby (Barbara) McAfee and Joyce Millard; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Zelma Terry and Jennie Chapman.

There will a memorial service Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Des Moines Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2317 Watrous Ave, Des Moines beginning at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church in loving memory of Wanda.
