Wanda Gillaspy Guy, 82, of Des Moines died on July 21, 2008 at Mercy Capitol Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday at Indianola Heights Christian Church with burial following at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4-7 PM Wednesday evening at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. Wanda was retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield and enjoyed rocking, baking pies and spending time with her family. She was a member of Indianola Heights Christian Church and survived by her daughter Kathy (Jon) Witzenburg of Indianola, her son Tim (Beryl) Guy of Des Moines, grandchildren Karmen Guy (Sami Takamaki) of San Diego, CA, Brittin Witzenburg of Salem, OR, Dakota Witzenburg (Audrey Diehl) of Los Angles, CA, Tanner (Anita) Guy of Altoona, Autumn Witzenburg of Portland, OR, Lindsay (Ryan) Wyckoff of Shakopee, MN and Bruce (Brandy) Guy of Pleasant Hill, her great grandson Kelton Wyckoff and her sisters Dorothy Andrews of Des Moines, Jean (John) Feller of Des Moines and Arlene Templeton of Panora, IA as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband LaVerne, her son Bruce Guy, her great grandson Bruce Guy III and her 7 siblings. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indianola Heights Christian Church.

Kathy and Tim,
I was so saddened by the passing of my Auntie Wanda and your wonderful mother. I was hoping to be able to attend, but just wasn't able to work it out. My mother in-law has been coping with a host of medical issues in Morgantown, WV and we've spent the better part of the summer running back and forth.
Reading the obit, I noticed your kids are spread out all over. Hope they were able to get back for the funeral. I know how devoted Aunt Wanda was to them all. How time flies, we're slowly but surely becoming the elders in the family. Hope we can handle things as well as our parents have.
There are so many things that have run through my mind the last few days. The sing a-longs at midnight as the tv stations went off the air, the laughter, the Christmas parties and so much more. They're painful memories right now, but I know as time goes on, they become so much more. I find some comfort in knowing the old pipeliners, Vern and Pete, are back again with there wonderful wives. Bless you all.
