Carl Loffredo, 79, passed away on May 29, 2018 at HCI Care Services-Kavanaugh House in Des Moines. He was born in Des Moines, on May 10, 1939, to Joe and R. (Mildred) Loffredo.

Carl was a graduate of the Class of 1957 from Lincoln High School. Post high school, he attended and graduated from AIB. Carl was very involved in the South Des Moines Chamber of Commerce and received an award as Volunteer of the Year for his photographic contributions. He also served as the official photographer for the Italian American Festival of Iowa from 2010-2014, and was a member of the society for Italian Americans. Carl retired as a 2nd Lieutenant for the Civil Air Patrol where he performed search and rescue photography. Additional organizations Carl was affiliated with include serving as Worthy Patron for the Southgate Eastern Star, being a member of the Southgate Masonic Lodge and serving on the Train Crew for the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine. Carl was a Boy Scout in his youth and helped serve as a Den Leader for his son’s Cub Scout pack. Carl retired from Access Control Technologies, Inc. as a Systems Engineer.

Carl is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth; his children, Mike, wife Shawn, Loffredo and Channon Loffredo; grandchildren. Caelyn and Declan Ward-Loffredo and sister Theresa Loffredo. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, IA
