May 18, 2018
Phyllis Jean Mealey, age 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior, peacefully surrounded by her family, on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2018 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Graveside committal service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Phyllis was born on April 29, 1935 in Saint Joseph, Missouri to Frank and Margaret (Dowell) Fees. She enjoyed playing the piano and the organ, and she liked to crochet. She was a loving Christian woman who taught Sunday School and found comfort in spreading the Word of God. Her church family, when she was still able to attend church, was an extension of her own family. Her family was her world. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and she touched the lives of everyone she met.
She is survived by her children, Debra K. Mealey (Brian Wiand), Dennis Mealey, Gayla Lynn Scott (William DeMoss), Kimberly Lepley (John), Laurie Frank (Dennis); three grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda and Kyle; three great-grandchildren, Mila, Jakobe and Maverick; brother, Frank Fees; sister, Beverly Johnson; and other extended family and friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Hural; brother, Robert Fees; and her parents, Frank and Margaret Fees.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Phyllis.
