Douangmaly Lovan

Douangmaly Lovan, age 55, passed away Thursday, May 17th, 2018 surrounded by family. She was born March 3rd, 1963 in Vientiane Laos.

She moved to the United States in 1980 and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1985. She last worked as an embroiderer for Sigler Company before being diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 43.

Lee was a devoted wife and mother. She was the most selfless, kind, and caring person who lived life through simple pleasures. She always put others before herself. She enjoyed cooking, chatting with friends and family, and always made sure others were well taken care of. Lee will be remembered as a strong, generous, and loving person. She always had a smile, even when times were tough. She never complained and always had a positive outlook.

She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Souan Lovan; her two children, Sabrina and Nicky Lovan; her parents, Suong Gary Lovan and Ia B. Lovan; her siblings, Sengmany (Saykham) Phouthavong, Christine BayPong (Bone) Chandavong, Kalouny Lovan, Bounthieng Lovan; and many great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines. Cremation will follow the service.
