Marjorie Allen Kitterman

Marjorie Allen Kitterman, 83, died Friday, May 4, 2018 in Grinnell, Iowa of natural causes.

Marjorie was born July 13, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa to Curtis and Dora Allen. She was a graduate of East High School, Class of ’53. She married Teddy Charles Spiker on March 21, 1954 and they were long-time residents of Des Moines, Iowa. They raised two children together – Melody and Steven. Mr. Ted Spiker passed away on February 3, 1981. Marjorie remarried Richard Kitterman in December of 1981. Marjorie was also a resident of Nebraska, Wisconsin, Illinois, Georgia and Texas. She was a top salesman for Electrolux for many years and an avid deer hunter. She was a fabulous golfer who scored two holes-in-one! Marjorie was a loving and compassionate mother and a great advisor. She was a born again Christian. Marjorie had many dogs that she loved including Cutty, Alphy, Semone and Collie.

Marjorie is survived by her sisters, Kay Pieper and Blanche Formaro, daughter, Melody Lynn Spiker, son, Steven Craig Spiker (wife Geolene), grandchildren, Eric Abolins, Aaron Hotchkin (wife Julie), and Todd Spiker, great-grandchildren, Valarie Marie Spiker and Emberly Grace Spiker, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Margaret Brandenburg in 2008, three brothers, Jack, Ray and Ralph Allen, sisters, Louise and Violet, and her parents.

A memorial service will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2018.
