Marilyn Bickel

Marilyn Rose Nicodemus Bickel, 75, departed from this earth on July 1 at her home surrounded by family and friends. Marilyn was born in Des Moines, Iowa April 19, 1933 to Arthur and Sophia Nicodemus.
Marilyn lived in Des Moines until the year 1988 when she retired from Federal Home Loan Bank and moved to Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas. After moving, she worked at the City Hall for many years. She was a member of Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church, Alter Guild, LWML Guild, and a volunteer at the Horseshoe Bend Library.
She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Darrell “Pete” Bickel; sons, Randy, Rick (Terry) Brose, and Darrell “Speedy” (Patti) Bickel; daughters, Sandy Blackford and Jackie (Dave) O’Neal; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Donna) and Charles “Chuck” (Donna) Nicodemus; sister, Carolyn (Lester) Matlage; and oodles of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Arthur; and a son, Scott Bickel.
Services will be held at noon Monday, July 7 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, with burial at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Orilla, IA. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be directed toward the family to be forwarded to the Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church and the Horseshoe Bend Library.
