Service Details

Denis Armstrong went to be with his Lord Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2006 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 2006 at Amos Family Chapel of Lenexa, 10113 Lenexa Drive, Lenexa, Kansas with burial at Lenexa Cemetery.
Denis was born May 5, 1953 to John “Jack” and Patricia (Downs) Armstrong in Kansas City, MO. He attended elementary school at St. Pius X in Mission, KS; graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1971; and completed his BS at the University of Kansas in 1975. (Rock Chalk Jayhawks!)
It was while he was a student at KU that someone first shared the Gospel with him, taking him to Romans 4:5: “But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness”. Denis placed his faith in the finished work of Christ and served Him all his day. He served as a founding elder at Park Woods Presbyterian of Overland Park, KS and is a member at Providence Reformed Church, Des Moines.
He worked in the insurance claims industry for nearly 32 years, having worked the last 23 years at Nationwide Agribusiness (formerly known as Farmland Insurance).
Denis is survived by his wife of 30 years Iris, their three sons: Mark, Merriam, KS; Peter (Chenni), West Des Moines, IA; Tim, West Des Moines, IA; mother Patricia Armstrong, Mission, KS; 5 brothers: Phil (Suzy), Frisco, TX, John (Karen), Lawrence, KS; Ken (Nancy), Prairie Village, KS; Dave, Mission, KS; Matt (Kristine), Pleasanton, CA; 3 sisters: Laura (Kevin) Patti, Roeland Park, KS; Mary (Matt) Reed, Kansas City, KS; Jeanne (Mike) Haynes, Sedalia, MO; 22 nieces and nephews; uncles: Gerald (Ann), Reynoldsburg, OH; Jim (Marla) Sunrise, FL; Rich (Joan) Downs, Washington, DC; and many cousins. Denis was preceded in death by his father.
Memorial contributions may be given to Providence Reformed Church Building Fund. Memorial contributions may be given to Park Woods Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
