Sharon Kay Mason

Sharon Kay Mason, 74, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospice in Johnston on Sunday, April 29, 2018 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Sharon was born on August 17, 1943 to Glen and Bernice (Warren) Hodson, Jr. in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a kind-hearted person who never knew a stranger. Sharon could strike up a conversation with anyone. She was a silly, fun-loving person who could make anyone laugh, and she never held a grudge. Sharon loved all social events and was a primary organizer for activities in her complex. She loved movie nights, playing cards and games, and taking care of her dog, Buster. Sharon loved the outdoors and enjoyed the weather in every season. She enjoyed going for car rides and on sight-seeing trips. Her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren were her world and she loved playing outside with them and watching them ride their bikes.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Bernice Hodson and her husband, Thomas Mason. Sharon is survived by her daughters, Traci Mason, Lori (Rick) Helm and Vicki Sanderfield, brothers, Gary Hodson and Dan Hodson, granddaughters, Nicole Mason, Lindsey Mason, Allison (Ryan) Johnson and Amy (Mitch) McClaskey, great-grandsons, Kade, Landon, Noah and Max, and numerous loving friends.
