Service Details

Sharon A. Mueller, 70, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 and is resting in eternal peace. She is survived by her loving husband Tom of 47 years, her daughters Melanie and Kelly, her sister Donna Smith, her half-siblings Karen Ferrara, Gary McWhirter and Sherrel Battles, and her fur babies Toby, Cookie, Halley and Ivy. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Wm. Dean and Lois (Liebenow) McWhirter, her grandparents, and her sister-in-law Joanne Mueller.

A committed nurse for over 40 years, she dedicated her life to helping others, taught numerous others her ways, set the example to live up to, touched countless lives, and was beloved by many people. Most recently, she spent her Saturdays running the Free Medical Clinic at Corinthian Baptist Church in Des Moines. She never met a stranger, would give someone the shirt off her back and would give her time to anyone who needed help in any way. She leaves a huge hole not only in our hearts, but among the communities in which she immersed herself. Her love was unmatched. Her spirit was forever uplifting. And her legacy will live on! May she watch down over all those who love her deeply and may we all find solace in knowing Heaven earned a great one. You were our champion; you were our sunshine; you were our wife and mom; you were our sister and aunt; you were our friend and teacher; and you were as unique as they come. We love you and we are so proud of your strength, your courage, and your willpower; we are amazed by your compassion, kindness, and generosity; and we are forever grateful for your unconditional love.

Her Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Hamilton’s, 3601 Westown Pkwy, West Des Moines, with a reception to follow. Donations, if you wish, can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. We love you, SAM! You were simply the best! Until we meet again!
