Dick Williams, 82, died, Monday, May 26, 2008 at home. He was born on March 11, 1926, to Mildred and Clarence Williams, in Winnebago, MN. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1944, after which he joined the United States Navy and served in WWII. On April 5, 1969, he married Ina Colleen Strong. He was a farmer for over 40 years, and also worked for Allis Chalmers for fifteen years before retiring.
Dick was an avid golfer and a loyal Iowa Hawkeye Fan (and a closet Iowa State Fan). He was a Mason and a member of Eastern Star for over 50 years, was a member of American Legion Post 396, Elks Club, and Lions Club, as well as Bondurant Christian Church.
He is survived by his loving wife Colleen; his children: Steve (Pat), Nancy (Chuck) Bishop, Mike (Chris), Mary Hapes, Carol, and David Williams; his step daughter Debbie (Dave) Danforth; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 1 great great-grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Alice (Bernard) Dravis.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008 at Bondurant Christian Church. Burial to follow in Bondurant Cemetery. Family will visit with friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Iowa Hospice, 5650 NW Johnston Drive, Johnston, Iowa 50131 or Bondurant Christian Church, 306 Grant Street South, Bondurant, Iowa 50035 in memory of Dick.
