Laura S. Kayser
February 24, 2018
Laura S. Kayser passed away February 24, 2018, at Taylor House Hospice surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She was born July 26, 1973, in Fremont, Nebraska, to Judson and Sharon (Runyan) Anton.
Laura graduated from Jesup High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University in 1995 and later received her Master’s degree in Business Leadership from William Penn University in 2015. Laura worked for Tone’s Spices prior to providing in-home childcare while raising her own children. She then taught preschool at Ankeny First United Methodist Church before working as the Kitchen Manager for Stilwell Junior High School in West Des Moines.
Laura was a member of Ankeny First United Methodist Church. From being the secretary of the Saydel Music Boosters, to being a seamstress and healthy snack provider for the Marching Eagles, to spending hours on the road providing Gatorade to parched drum corps friends all over the Midwest, she was an overall “Band Mom.” Laura raised many litters of kittens for Safe Home Rescue. Above all else, she treasured her family, especially her children, and their time spent together.
Laura is survived by her husband of 23 years, Doug; children, Max, Claire, and Ben; parents, Jud and Sharon Anton; maternal grandmother, Mariellyn Runyan; paternal grandmother, Charlotte Anton; her sisters, Mary (Tom) Kiefer, Amber (Dustin) Matthiesen, and Julie (Matt) Cook; as well as many other loving family members and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Donald Runyan, and paternal grandfather, Beryl Anton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Ankeny First United Methodist Church, 206 SW Walnut Street in Ankeny, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5-8 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines.

I knew Laura as a young girl growing up in our church in Jesup. It was always a pleasure to see the Antone family in church & at church functions. Such a sad thing to loose your mom so young, but all the wonderful memories we all have of Laura.

Laura was one of my first friends starting school and like most of us we remained friends all the way until we graduated. Both of us moved on in our lives I was lucky enough to bump into her once or twice in recent years at events for our kids. Even though we didn't have constant contact like in school it felt like it had just been days days not years since I'd seen her last. Laura was aways beautiful inside and out and will not be forgotten. Love and prayers to all of her friends and family By knowing Laura as kids I can just imagine what An a amazing person she had become.
